Creative Technologist

Hi, I’m Fiza Mulla, an Interactive Production Coordinator at Cortina Productions and a graduate of the University of Maryland’s Immersive Media Design program (Computing Track), an interdisciplinary program jointly offered through both the School of Computer Science and the Arts and Humanities. My work sits at the intersection of emerging technology, storytelling, and human-centered design, with a focus on creating interactive experiences that help people engage with information in meaningful ways.

Work

As an Interactive Production Coordinator at Cortina Productions, I help lead the development of interactive experiences from concept through implementation. Collaborating across design, development, and content teams, I contribute to content strategy, interaction design, asset research, CMS development, user testing, and accessibility reviews. My work focuses on creating engaging experiences that connect technology, storytelling, and learning, helping museums and cultural institutions share their stories in meaningful ways.

research

My research interests center on human-computer interaction and the ways emerging technologies shape how people engage with information, experiences, and one another. I am particularly interested in how immersive and AI-driven systems influence perception, decision-making, learning, and public engagement. As an undergraduate researcher, I examined the impact of AI text watermarking on automated detection systems, exploring how technologies designed to improve transparency can unintentionally affect the performance of other AI tools. This work was accepted to the ACL 2026 KnowFM Workshop and further strengthened my interest in studying the complex relationships between people, technology, and information.
